CARE AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Proper care for your shirdak will extend its lifespan:

• To remove stains and dirt from the carpet, use a sponge and water with soap, and for drying, use an iron or sunlight.

• Use a low-power vacuum cleaner without attachments for cleaning.

• Shake the carpet outdoors and beat it with a stick or carpet beater to remove dust.

• Hang the carpet in direct sunlight for 3 hours twice a year.

• Treat the product with moth spray and ensure dryness in the storage area for further preservation.

Shirdak carpets are currently one of the rarest types of carpet weaving in Kyrgyzstan. In order to preserve this tradition for centuries, the government has included shirdak carpets in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
