Proper care of your shyrdak will prolong its lifespan:

• To remove stains and dirt from the carpet, use a sponge and soapy water. For drying, use an iron or sunlight.

• For cleaning, use a vacuum cleaner without attachments on low power.

• Shake the carpet outside and beat it with a stick or carpet beater to remove dust.

• Hang the carpet in direct sunlight for 3 hours twice a year.

• Always treat the product with moth spray and ensure dryness in the storage area for further preservation.

Shyrdak carpets are currently one of the rarest types of carpet weaving in Kyrgyzstan. In order to preserve this tradition for centuries, the government has included shyrdak carpets in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.
